How to choose a university and apply

According to the statistics, there are more than 18,500 international students studying in the universities of Belarus this year. This number grows annually with more and more students from India, Sri-Lanka, China and other countries willing to get a quality higher education abroad and choosing Belarus for their goal.  

How to choose a university?

You will have to decide for yourself first of all on what do you want to do. Traditionally Belarus trains strong programmers, mathematicians, doctors, international lawyers, architects and construction specialists. When you have an idea about what you want to do, then you can use our platform's easy search. There you can find a range of universities with educational programs that suit your needs - choose the best one and apply.  

Belarus has classical universities that combine several institutions training specialists in various fields - from engineering to linguistics. Examples of classical Belarusian universities are BelarusianVitebskMogilevGomel and Grodno State Universities.

But there are also field-specific universities that, for example, train teachers or doctors only. Take Belarusian State Pedagogical University, for instance, whose graduates become teachers and trainers at schools, colleges, universities and other educational institutions. There is also Belarusian State Medical University for those whose dream was to become a doctor. Future programmers and IT-specialists choose Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics as their alma mater. 

Although there is no scholarship or grant system in Belarus, international students still can apply for a free of charge education. We have an article right here explaining how it's done.

Tuition fees in Belarus

Belarusian system of higher education has several levels

Bachelor's degree level

Regular and complete higher education where a student gets his qualification and a state-recognized diploma. Education period is 4 years full-time and 5 years part-time. 

How much is the tuition fee?

For example, the educational program "Information systems and technologies" at Belarus State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics costs 2,500 USD per year. "Veterinary Medicine" program at Grodno State Agrarian University costs 2,000 USD per year. 

Master's degree level 

A deeper study in the chosen field is provided at this level. A Master's degree students carry out scientific and practical research and prepares a thesis. In the case of a successful thesis presentation, the student received a scientific degree of a Master of Science. Education period id 1-2 years.

How much is the tuition fee?

A Master's degree educational program in "Innovative Technologies in Mechanical Engineering" in Russian at Brest State Technical University costs 3,000 USD per year. While the educational program in "Automation" taught in English at Belarusian National Technical University costs 4,200 USD per year.

How can a foreign student apply to a Belarusian university

Foreign students are not required to pass any specific exams when they are applying to the universities of Belarus (except such educational programs as architecture, design and medicine). All it is required is passing's an interview where the committee checks the student's command of Russian or English (depending on the chosen program). You can check at our website the list of universities that organize online interviews. Some of them provide an opportunity to get enrolled online for distant learning programs
