In Belarus, obtaining medical insurance is a mandatory condition for all international students upon admission and throughout their studies. Let's break down how it works and what you need to know.
Why is Insurance Necessary?
International students, just like citizens of Belarus, can get sick, get injured, or need emergency care. But unlike citizens, they are not covered by the state healthcare system. Therefore, to receive medical assistance, they need insurance that covers treatment costs.

Furthermore, without insurance, you cannot:
- Get a visa (in many cases)
- Check into a dormitory
- Be enrolled in a university
What Does Standard Medical Insurance Cover?
Typically, an insurance policy covers:
- Visits to a polyclinic and home doctor visits
- Transportation to a hospital and emergency care
- Inpatient treatment
- Laboratory tests and examinations
Important: An insured event is a sudden illness or accident. Planned surgeries, dentistry, and cosmetic services are not included in the insurance.
Where to Get Insurance?
There are several options:
1. Through MyUniver Company
Our company has insurance agents. Upon your arrival, we will meet you at the airport and arrange the insurance immediately. You won't have to worry about where to go or how to get it; we'll do everything for you! This is convenient and fast.
2. Through an Insurance Company
You can arrange it yourself, for example, with companies such as:
- Belgosstrakh
- Kupala
- Ingosstrakh
- Beleximgrant

The cost of insurance is approximately 185 USD per year, depending on the coverage and length of stay.
What to Do if You Get Sick?
- Call your insurance provider (contact information is on your policy).
- Notify the insurer of the insured event.
- Clarify which clinic you can visit.
- Go to the clinic with your passport and insurance policy.
- Receive medical assistance for free (if covered by your policy).
Tip: Always carry a copy of your insurance policy with you and save the insurance company's number on your phone.
What Happens if You Don’t Have Insurance?
Without insurance, a student will not be able to continue their studies or pass migration control.
Additionally, treatment in a hospital or calling an ambulance will be expensive, ranging from several hundred to thousands of dollars. It's better not to take the risk.
Important Tip from MyUniver
We always help students arrange insurance upon admission. If you don't know how or where to do it, just write to our manager. We'll tell you what documents you need, which policy is right for you, and help with the insurance application itself.
