A student from Russia chose Belarus for enrollment: experience and assistance

Darya, an international student of the 1st year of the correspondence course at the Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maxim Tank. The Russian student shared with us her experience of enrolling in Belarus, and also told us who assisted her in overcoming challenges during the admission process in another country.

Before enrolling in a Belarusian university, Daria studied at an institute in her hometown Smolensk, but made a mistake with her choice of profession and soon dropped out. She was in search of her own. According to her, the idea to enter Belarus came from a friend, and despite the absence of relatives or friends in this country, she decided to apply to a university in Belarus.

- I was attracted by the prospect of studying abroad, especially considering the territorial proximity of Smolensk and Minsk. Now I have a guaranteed opportunity to be abroad twice a year. It's amazing," said Daria.

This is the third time Daria comes to Belarus for a session. Initially she lived in a hostel provided by the university, then she rented a room with a friend, and now she got a place in a dormitory.

- At first I had difficulties in finding an apartment - the prices in the city were unaffordable for me. Besides, I could not contact the owners of rented apartments by phone, as I have a Russian SIM card. Now I live in a dormitory from the university, which is very convenient for me," added the student.

Daria's impressions of Belarus are generally positive. She considers the local people kind and simple, and the streets clean and well-maintained. The student also liked studying at the university: practical classes are interesting, and teachers are very enthusiastic about their profession.

- I mostly explored the area near the university. I also walked along pedestrian streets, I went to Niamiha, I went to Zybitskaya, though only in the daytime. I went to my friends in Novaya Borovaya neighborhood, it's very beautiful there, - the student shared her observations.

We also found out whether she collected the documents for admission herself and whether she had faced any challenges during the admission process.

- In the search engine I typed "How can a Russian enter a Belarusian university?" and immediately found the site MyUniver - it was one of the first. The staff of the company helped me to collect all the necessary documents, which made the enrollment process easier. I especially liked the informal style of communication with the manager, as well as his support during the whole admission campaign. Together with MyUniver, admission process was easy and clear," summarized the Russian.

In conclusion, Daria expressed her gratitude to MyUniver for the assistance in admission. She also noted that even after admission she turned to MyUniver manager for advice and they told her how to save double on cellular communication and helped her to activate a SIM card for students. So Daria suggested adding follow-up counseling for students to share with them useful tips and lifehacks.

- When I first came to Belarus, I didn't know that tickets on public transportation had to be punched. For several days I bought a ticket and then just threw it away. What was my surprise when I asked a guy to buy a ticket for me and he punched it. I was shocked. I think such information would be useful for all international students," Daria added.

She also urged foreign applicants, wishing to study in Belarus, not to be afraid to try new things and use the opportunity to study abroad.

And MyUniver company will assist them with all the challenges of enrollment.
