At the level of higher education, the most popular were "dentistry" in BSMU, "world economy" in BSU and "software engineering" in BSUIR, the passing score for which amounted to 395 out of 400. "Slightly less, 391 points, — for the specialty "applied computer science" in BSU. But there is such a peculiarity here, that this year and last year up to 80% of children entered medical universities on the terms of targeted training. Because of this, the number of places for admission on a general basis was small," said Sergey Pishchov.
The head of the main department also noted the growing popularity of physics and mathematics specialties.
Then the expert announced the specialties with the highest competition. "The competition for the specialty "graphic design and multimedia design" at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno is more than 20 people per place. Also, traditionally, there are big competitions for IT-specialties and specialties in physical education and sports," emphasized Sergei Pishchow.
At the same time, the specialist emphasized that the competition is not quite an objective indicator of the popularity of a specialty. "For example, if five budget places are announced for a specialty and 20 people apply, the competition is four people per place. And, for example, for the specialty "forestry", where the plan of admission to the budget is 100 people, to get a competition of five people per place, 500 people must apply.
