BSMU receives Iranian accreditation: new horizons for Belarusian education

The Belarusian State Medical University (BSMU) has been accredited by the Ministry of Health and Medical Education of the Islamic Republic of Iran. This important event opens new perspectives for the university community and strengthens ties between Belarus and Iran in the field of education.

Last week Rector of BSMU Sergey Rubnikovich was congratulated on this achievement by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran to Belarus Alireza Sanei. During the meeting it was stressed that the accreditation will allow the Belarusian university to join the number of foreign educational institutions whose diplomas are recognised in Iran. This decision will become the basis for more active co-operation between the two states in the field of education and science.

An important aspect of the discussion at the meeting was the organisational aspects related to the admission of Iranian citizens to the medical faculty of the Belarusian State Medical University in the new academic year. Within the quotas defined by the Iranian Ministry of Health, students will be admitted to specialities ‘Medicine’, ‘Dentistry’ and ‘Pharmacy’. Besides, the issues of preparation and transfer of Iranian students from other medical universities of Belarus and Russia, as well as their reinstatement to continue their studies at BSMU were considered.
