New specialties in universities of Belarus 2024

Annual changes in technology, economy and society require constant updating of educational programs in educational institutions. In 2024, Belarusian universities will offer new specialties that will help students gain up-to-date knowledge and skills necessary for a successful career in a rapidly changing world. This year, new professions can be studied at four universities in the capital.

Belarusian State University

1. Regional Geography and Translation Studies

The School of Geography and Geoinformatics is opening a new specialty which will prepare multipurpose specialists in teaching, translation and geography. Graduates will be able to work in educational, tourism, advertising and IT organizations. The education will last 4.5 years.

2. International Conflict Studies

This specialty in the School of International Relations focuses on the study of international conflicts and their resolution. The programme comprises the study of international law, politics, conflict mediation and analysis, which paves the way to work in diplomacy and international organizations.

3. International Logistics

The School of International Relations offers a specialty in International Logistics. Students will study the fundamentals of international trade, transport systems, warehousing and methods of optimizing logistics processes. Graduates will be able to find employment in international trade and logistics companies.

Belarusian State Technological University

Design, construction and operation of unmanned systems

A new specialty in the School of Forest Engineering, Materials Science and Design focuses on the development of drones and autonomous devices. Students will study electronics, mechanics and technology for creating autonomous systems, which will offer them opportunities in a variety of industries including transport and agriculture.

Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics

1. Cyberphysical Systems 

The School of Information Technologies and Control offers a specialty dealing with the study of cyberphysical systems. Students will gain knowledge in computer science, electronics and robotics, which will enable them to work in the fields of automation and control of transport systems.

2. Electronic engineering

The School of Computer Engineering will train students to design advanced electronic devices and systems. Graduates will be able to find employment in a variety of fields, including electronics, automation and medical technology.

3. Digital marketing

The School of Engineering and Economics offers a specialization devoted to digital marketing methods. Students will learn to analyze the market and develop promotion strategies, which will make them in demand in advertising agencies and IT companies.

4. Micro- and nanoelectronics

This pre-existing specialty has undergone a transformation and now offers graduates an engineering qualification and a Master's degree. It trains specialists in electronics and sensor technology.

Minsk State Linguistic University

Digital Linguistics

A new specialty at the intersection of language and programming will allow students to develop language software products and train artificial intelligence systems. Graduates will be able to conduct scientific research in the field of computational linguistics.

  For admission to the new directions the same conditions apply as for the other specialties: it will be necessary to provide certificates of passing centralized examinations.
