Every year more and more students from Russia, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and other countries come to study in Belarus. Why? Because it is:
- affordable;
- high-quality in terms of education;
- safe and stable.
But here's the problem: many applicants want to study abroad, but don't know what profession to choose. And this causes stress: "What if I choose the wrong one?", "What if I can't find a job later?", "What if I don't like it?".

Don't worry. There will always be a solution. Here are some tips from MyUniver if you want to study in Belarus, but have not yet decided on your future profession.
1. Choose universal directions
If you don't know what you want to be yet, start with wide majors that offer flexible options for the future:
Direction | Where it comes in handy |
---|---|
Economics and management | In business, start-ups, government agencies |
International relations | In diplomacy, NGOs, international companies |
Information technology | Programming, analytics, online projects |
Филология и иностранные языки | Translations, teaching, international projects |
Media communications and PR | Journalism, advertising, social media |
On such programmes you can try yourself in different spheres and, perhaps, by the 3rd or 4th year you will know exactly what your vocation is.
2. Find out where you can change your speciality or transfer

In Belarusian universities it is possible to transfer to another speciality or faculty especially after the 1st year. This is not uncommon. The main thing is to submit your documents on time and meet the requirements.
So at the start, choose a university where there is a diversity of directions, so that it is easy to "replay" later.
3. Find a university that has students from your country
Many applicants are afraid that they will feel lonely or find it difficult to adapt. But if your fellow countrymen are already studying at the university, it will be easier for you to fit in and get support.

For example, there are universities in Belarus that already have a student community from Uzbekistan, Egypt, Turkmenistan, India and others.
Talk to them beforehand: ask questions, find out what faculties are available, how the training goes.
4. Listen to yourself - not just the advice of others
Parents, friends, neighbours - everyone has an opinion. But you have to learn, you have to live with that choice.
If you don't feel interested in medicine - don't go there just because "it's prestigious". Choose something where you can develop and feel motivated.
5. Look at the university, not just the profession

Even if you haven't decided on your future job yet - the right university will give you a great starting point:
- modern teaching technologies (ICT, online platforms);
- experienced teachers;
- international partnerships;
- opportunities for part-time work and internships;
- a lively student community.

Many students from the CIS, Asia and Africa enrol in Belarus because here you can get a European education at an affordable price.
6. Specific steps worth taking:
1. Determine what is definitely not suitable for you (for example, I don't like chemistry - medicine is unlikely to be suitable).
2. Study the websites of universities: look at specialities, admission conditions, curricula.
3. Talk to our managers - they will help you decide on your speciality, recommend a suitable university, tell you about visas and necessary documents.
And remember, you don't have to know everything right now.
The main thing is to start the journey. In Belarus you will have the time, resources and support to sort yourself out and find your business.
