The ZHEJIANG UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (ZUST) is a comprehensive institution of higher professional education in the technical, natural sciences, humanities, education, economics and management. By combining the expertise of German universities of applied sciences with China's own environment, ZUST produces internationally renowned specialists.

Various research institutes have been established, including Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering, Bioengineering, Functional Material, Information Technology and Automation, Computer Application Technology, Architectural Design, Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Design and Creativity, Industrial Engineering, Dye and Pigment.
And there are two other technology centers, viz: The Digitally Controlled Process Control Center and the Analysis and Testing Center. By strengthening incentive mechanisms and improving research management and generally encouraging faculty members to participate in research, a qualified research team has been established.

In addition, the recruitment of new teachers with advanced degrees or those recruited from high-level positions in recent years has greatly expanded the university's research capabilities.
In cooperation with local businesses, the relevant schools and institutes at the university have established several specialized centers, such as the Renewable Energy Research and Development Center, the Paper and Color Printing Research Center, the Electronic Technology Research and Development Center, the Applied Materials Research Center, the Smart Instrument Research and Development Center and the Institute for Applied Biotechnology Products, etc.
Over the past three years, there have been 600 research projects of varying levels and categories conducted by teachers at the university. Research funding has doubled since the previous year. There is a significant impetus for the continued development of research at the university.
In addition, the university is developing international relations, in particular, by establishing extensive relations with German universities and enterprises. As a result of these cooperative arrangements, the university has been able to develop many technologies to help enterprises in Zhejiang Province.
