For more than 40 years the University has been one of the leading universities of the Russian Federation. Today it is the largest scientific and educational center of Russia.
The history of NSTU begins more than 70 years ago. From the very first step the university paid attention to the high quality of the educational process, exchange of experience and enlightenment of the population. Thus, some time later its own scientific and educational TV channel was created.

- 16 faculties, including the Institute of Distance Education with full-time distance learning. Applicants choose from more than 90 educational programs. University students receive technical and business education, study humanities: information technology, applied mathematics, instrumentation, economics, law, psychology, pedagogy, advertising and marketing, management and others.
- The University has modern equipment - multimedia classrooms, more than 236 modern computer classrooms, 65 laboratories, engineering and scientific centers.
- Today 13 000 students study here, among them about 3000 foreign students from more than 30 countries. The university has produced more than 180,000 graduates. 80% of them immediately after receiving their diplomas occupy highly paid positions in the desired companies. Specialists with NSTU diploma have a European sample application, which allows to freely continue education in a foreign university or confirm national education for a foreign employer.
- The university employs more than 1,500 teachers, including international specialists from PRC, Japan, USA and European cities. Among them are both experienced teachers, associate professors, professors, candidates and doctors of sciences, and young specialists who are employees of the major Russian and international companies and are well acquainted with the real needs of the market.
- The university infrastructure includes 8 academic buildings, a separate library building, sports grounds with a total area of 14,280 square meters. In addition, NSTU has its own sanatorium-preventorium, polyclinic, hospital, sports and health camp on the shore of the Ob Sea and in the Altai Mountains ("Sharap" and "Erlagol"). In the buildings there are public catering points from canteens to food stands.
- The library with a total area of 8 thousand square meters occupies a separate building. One thousand students can comfortably accommodate in the reading room. There are more than three million copies in the library's collection.
- Due to active international activity at the moment the University has more than 100 cooperation agreements with 23 countries, including the USA, Germany, England, France, Turkey, China, Mongolia, Korea, etc. NSTU is a member of five international organizations. NSTU is a participant of five international Erasmus+ programs.
· The total number of international and national rankings is regularly updated. Today NSTU is a participant of QS World University Rankings, World University Rankings, RUR Round University Rankings, Webometrics, Interfax, RAEX_Analytics, Moscow International Rating, Superjob, hh, Forbes, Rating of media activity of universities of the Russian Federation (M-Rating).
There is a preparatory program open for international students. If you wish, you can take a Russian language test and receive a state certificate.
