General Information

BSAC

The Belarusian state academy of communications has been training personnel in the field of communications and engineering since 1993. Nowadays, the Academy organized a master's course, post-graduate course and the possibility of getting higher education in two stages.

Information about Academy

BSAC was founded in 1934 when there was an urgent demand to expand the range of employees in the field of communications and telegraphy. Today, the State Committee has successfully accredited the Belarusian state academy of communications for Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus and the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The scientific journal “Problemy infokommunikacij” published by BSAC since 2016 is in the list of scientific publications of the Republic of Belarus.

The structure of the educational institution comprises 5 schools:

  • School of Telecommunications;
  • School of Engineering and Communication Technologies;
  • School of Correspondence and distance education;
  • School of Advanced studies and retraining;
  • School of pre-university study.

The Academy also includes a separate unit of the Institute of Professional  Education, the Institute of Modern Communication Technologies at the Belarusian State Academy of Communications, the department of  the secondary special education and the Vitebsk branch of the Academy.

The educational process is provided by 12 faculties. Enrollment of students for the second and third levels of higher education is open  as well as the distance learning is also functioning.

The status of the Academy and academic programs

BSAC provides pre-university study for students, and also provides an opportunity to  get higher education in two stages. At the first stage, the student receives a  secondary field-specific education, and then a higher education. Students also have the opportunity to complete specialized courses in training centers:

  • Cisco ( CCNA, CCNA Security, CCNP courses);
  • ZTE (SDH, DWDM, PON courses);
  • Huawei (courses on data networks). 

The recurrent training is carried out remotely throughout the month. It is also possible to undergo the recurrent training in person; it will take only 1-2 weeks. Retraining of personnel is carried out in the specialty "Postal service" for the secondary field-specific education and "Marketing" for the higher education.

Two honorary professors work at BSAC and the Academy itself takes the 46th place in the ranking of Belarusian universities. According to WEBOMETRICS, the Academy takes the  20921th  place in the world ranking of higher educational institutions.

Since 2009  BSAC has been accepting foreign students for training on a commercial basis. The following programs are provided for international students:

  • Education at the school of pre-university study;
  • Training at the level of secondary field-specific education;
  • Higher education;
  • Retraining of specialists;
  • Recurrent  training of specialists;
  • Distance learning;
  • Courses in specialized centers.

For foreign students who do not speak Russian but want to study at the Academy, it is proposed to take the  preparatory courses for 10 months. Upon successful completion of the preparatory courses and exams, applicants are enrolled in the Academy.

The Institute of Modern Communication Technologies at the TO “Belarusian State Academy of Communications” implements educational programs with short training periods (from a week to a year) for a wide category of people of different ages, as well as foreign citizens. International cooperation is carried out with higher education institutions and research centers of the CIS countries and Europe, including with the Regional Commonwealth in the field of Communications, the International Telecommunication Union, ZTE and Huawei representative offices in Belarus within the framework of training centers of these companies opened in the Academy.

Life Conditions

Accommodation, meals, leisure

BSAC has 3 buildings of dormitories of the corridor type. The total number of beds  in dormitories is 888. Each room is designed to accommodate 2-4 students, each floor has a kitchen. Shower and toilet rooms are in each block. 

In the dormitory No. 1 there is a medical room, in the dormitory No. 2 there is a fully equipped library and in the dormitory No. 3 there is a buffet. Gyms rooms are located in buildings No. 1 and No. 3, there is a fitness room and a tennis room. 

BSAC has its own canteen which is located in the city center. The dormitory buildings are also located in the city center and within walking distance to educational buildings. Food prices are quite affordable for a student wallet.

Payment

All international students are guaranteed to be accommodated  in the dormitory. The price of accommodation is 40 USD per month. The  price of accommodation includes the use of the room, kitchen, surrounding areas, self-study rooms, gyms and laundry.
